Introduction
Social logins are where your GEDmatch account has been linked to a social login of either Google or Yahoo!
There are pros and cons of doing this:
Pros:
- One click login
- One fewer username (email) and password to keep track of
Cons:
- Currently quite difficult to undo.
- If you forget that the account is linked - attempting to login with email and password or reset password does not work and no or poor feedback from. Auth0 is provided to guide you to how to resolve the issue.
Social Login with Google.
If your GEDmatch account has been linked to Google - to login on the login page click the "Continue with Google" button - here highlighted in red.
You should be logged in.
You do not enter your email address nor enter a GEDmatch password. If you do so you will be told they are incorrect.
Do not attempt to reset your password with the GEDmatch - The Auth0 system will silently ignore your request leaving you to wonder why you are not getting a reset password email.
If you want to change your password associated with Google you need to do that via Google not GEDmatch.
Social Login with Yahoo!.
If your GEDmatch account has been linked to Yahoo! - to login on the login page click the "Continue with Yahoo!" button - here highlighted in red.
If you want to change your password associated with Yahoo! you need to do that via Yahoo! not GEDmatch.
