How to Log-In to GEDmatch with an Email Code

As of March 19, 2026, you will be able to log in to GEDmatch without typing your password. Instead, we’ll send a one-time code to your email address. Enter the code, and you’re in.

This is a convenient option if you have trouble remembering your password or if you’re logging in from a new device.

What You’ll Need

       Your GEDmatch account email address

       Access to your email inbox

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Go to the GEDmatch Login Page

Visit www.gedmatch.com and click “Sign In.” Enter your email address as usual.

Step 3: Check Your Email

Open your email inbox and look for a message from GEDmatch. The email will contain a one-time code. This code expires after a short period, so use it promptly.

If you don’t see the email within a minute or two, check your spam or junk folder.

Step 4: Enter the Code

Go back to the GEDmatch login screen and enter the code from your email. Click “Continue”.

Step 5: You’re Logged In

That’s it. You’ll be taken to your GEDmatch dashboard. You can use this method every time you log in, or switch back to using your password whenever you prefer.

Troubleshooting

I didn’t receive the email

       Check your spam/junk folder

Make sure you entered the correct email address

Wait a minute and try sending the code again

If the problem persists, try using your password to log in instead

The code didn’t work

Codes expire after a short time. Request a new code and enter it right away.

Make sure you’re using the most recent code if you requested more than one.

Can I still use my password?

Yes. The email code is an alternative to your password, not a replacement. You can use either method each time you log in.
